What is the Visa Lottery

The Visa Lottery, formally the United States Diversity Lottery and also known as the Diversity Visa Lottery or DV Lottery, is a program administered by the United States Department of State that allows People from countries with low levels of immigration to the United States participate in a drawing for the opportunity to obtain an immigrant visa and, eventually, permanent residence in the United States.

What is the objective of the Visa Lottery

The primary goal of the DV Lottery is to promote ethnic and cultural diversity in the United States by providing an opportunity for individuals from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States.

How to participate

  • 1. You must qualify for the Diversity Visa Program!

To be eligible for the 2025 Visa Lottery, you must meet two requirements:

    • Be a native of a country that qualifies for the DV-2025 draw given that it has low immigration rates to the United States. (countries such as Spain, Portugal, Ukraine qualify, see the complete list below)

    • Meet the minimum education or work experience requirement such as graduating from High School or equivalent or having 2 years of practical experience in a craft/career/job.

  • 2. To participate you must register your application in the website dvprogram.state.gov. This is the only way to submit the electronic application. Consular authorities warn about common scams and fake websites that deceive people. Our company can assist in preparing your application, however it will be submitted in this same official website, dvprogram.state.gov.

  • 3. Use a recent passport size photograph. The Registration Form must be accompanied by a RECENT photograph of the applicant, taken within the last six months. Photos that are older disqualify the foreigner from the immigrant visa lottery.

  • 4. Make sure the photograph meets the Department of State's technology requirements for photographs, following instructions such as resolution, file size, file format, etc.  Photos that do not meet the required characteristics disqualify the foreigner from the immigrant visa lottery.

  • 5. The United States maintain this lottery free. There is no registration fee for the 2025 Diversity Visa Program. Our company charges $49 USD to assist you in this process.

Selection process

Each year, the Department of State randomly selects a specific number of winners from among eligible participants. These winners have the opportunity to apply for a diversity visa.

The random selection will take place in May 2024, the results will be available from May 4, 2024, through Sept. 30, 2025, and the State Department website is the only place where it is revealed if you won the visa lottery.

Available visas

This visas are of Inmigrant nature, therefore the winner might receive (if follows all the steps) a Green Card at the end of this process. These visas are granted to the lottery winners and their immediate families (spouse and unmarried children under 21) to immigrate to the United States and obtain permanent residency.

There are 55,000 Green Cards available, however many more applicants are chosen because not all those selected manage to complete the immigration process.

Annual limits

There is an annual limit on the number of diversity visas available, and the process is highly competitive due to the large number of applicants. Winners must meet certain eligibility requirements and go through an application and interview process before receiving their visas.

IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS

That is not legal advice ^_~ please see usia.legal/disclaimer for all the wording required by transparency, morality, HONESTY, and legalITY.

  • Save your DV-2025 confirmation number. When you finish the registration process, the Visa Lottery website shows you a unique confirmation number corresponding to your application. You will need this number to verify the results of the DV-2025 Visa Lottery when the selection process is carried out in May 2024. If our company assisted you in this application, we will highlight your confirmation number.

  • ATTENTION: We know of companies that hijack the confirmation number or lie about a confirmation number that does not exist to manipulate applicants.

  • Use the US government websites Consular authorities advise using only US government websites that end in “.gov” as an official source on the Diversity Visa Program.

  • The current instructions available in English DV-2025 Program Instructions, (https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Diversity-Visa/DV-Instructions-Translations/dv-2025-instructions-translations/DV-2025_Instructions-faqs.pdf ) are quite through and excellent for clarifying doubts and giving instructions to participate correctly

  • Send only one registration to the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program. The immigration program that will distribute a maximum of 55,000 immigrant visas among those selected to complete the immigration process only allows one registration form per person. Late or paper registrations will not be accepted. The government uses sophisticated technology to detect multiple registrations, which immediately disqualifies the applicant.

  • Include your family to immigrate to the United States legally. The US government advises that the main applicant include his or her spouse and all unmarried children under 21 years of age in the application, even if they will not travel or emigrate with the visa winner.

  • It is important to note that the Diversity Visa Lottery is just one of many immigration programs to the United States and does not guarantee immigration. Winners must meet all additional requirements and procedures to obtain their visa and permanent residency in the United States. Additionally, requirements and the process can change from year to year, so it is essential to consult the official website of the U.S. Department of State for updated information and details on how to participate.
